First time experiencing Popeyes but definitely won't be the last, heard and reads many mixed reviews, but absolutely loved it! Spicy chicken sandwich was Spicy, juicy tender could of down with a little more sauce but was still so good The Spicy wings weren't super spicy but still good crunchy outside and juicy inside The original chicken had a nice flavor and agin was crunchy yet juicy Didn't love the mac n cheese but that's just a preference thing Highly recommend getting into your nearest Popeyes

Another great alternative My children beckon me to go to this fast food restaurant. They told me that it was a new chain that had just invaded Auckland. I have heard of its reputation and it is good to try new things. We weren't very crowded while we were there. The place is well-lit and looks very clean. We placed our order though we did not receive it as fast as we thought, the staff came out to apologize for the delay which I felt was a great gesture. I was quite impressed with the staff's manners and friendliness. Good job. The chicken was well done. Though the marination is a little salty to my liking, it was flavourful. It was crispy to bite into and then juicy on the inside. I particularly prefer the wings as it was a little spicy. I am not a fan of the biscuits but the gravy is nice. Sadly, they do not have salad or something for the health-conscious bunch. The French fries are not the best nor the mashed potatoes. Overall, I prefer this restaurant to other fast-food fried chicken restaurants because of the chicken. It was "finger-licking good." Hehe...

Visited in the afternoon on Waitangi Day on the way home to Hamilton. I was excited to finally try Popeyes as there had been so much hype around it - I would say it was well deserved! Ordering through the kiosk was simple and my food did not take that long to arrive. It was hot and my order was correct. I had the tenders with mac and cheese, gravy, chips, and a drink. All the food was absolutely delicious, I loved the cajun seasoning in gravy and on the fries. The chicken itself is not especially unique; it is hot, juicy and tasty, but the sides are really where it’s at. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and left satisfied. Next time I would be inclined to try the chicken sandwich.

The food here has always been quite good, but there seem to be ongoing issues with management and operations. Last month, I placed an order and waited about 20 minutes before being told that the fryer was broken and they couldn’t sell fried chicken, so they had to issue a refund. It was frustrating that this wasn’t communicated earlier. Today, when I visited again, there appeared to be only one person in the kitchen. The staff member at the front counter (who seemed to be Filipino) was handling drive-thru orders, helping prepare food, and serving customers paying with cash — all at the same time. There were only three customers in total, yet I still had to wait 15 minutes to receive my meal at a fast food restaurant. Even if someone called in sick, a fast food restaurant shouldn’t be operating with only two staff members on shift. Either the employee benefits are so poor that they can’t retain enough staff, the company is cutting costs too aggressively, or there are serious issues with scheduling and management. I hope they can improve their staffing and operational efficiency, because the food itself is actually good.

Popeyes in Takanini was great! Tried it for the first time last Sunday night, atmosphere was nice with its Louisiana roots & video that was screened on display. It was quiet at the time which was convenient - food quality was awesome, loved the selection of sauces, the combos available & the milkshakes were delicious! The chicken is good, there's a lot of crumble to them Taste is great! Different to any other I've tried.

It’s been years since I last had Popeyes—the last time was back in Panama—so when I spotted this gem, I knew I had to give it another go. Let me tell you, it absolutely lived up to the memories! The fried chicken blew my mind all over again. It was exactly how I remembered it: crispy on the outside, juicy and succulent on the inside. Every bite was packed with bold, savoury flavour that hit all the right notes. It’s that perfect balance of crunchy coating and tender meat that’s so hard to find elsewhere. Popeyes really knows how to do fried chicken right, and this visit just confirmed it. The overall experience was great too. The service was efficient, the staff were friendly, and the food came out hot and fresh, just the way it should. It was such a good reminder of why Popeyes has the reputation it does among fried chicken fans. The only downside I noticed was the price. Compared to other fried chicken spots, it did feel a bit on the expensive side, especially for what you get portion-wise. That said, the quality of the chicken and the nostalgic, satisfying flavours made it worth it for me this time around. If you’re a fried chicken lover—or just someone chasing a bit of comfort food nostalgia—Popeyes is a solid choice. I’m already looking forward to my next visit… though maybe next time I’ll be a bit more prepared for the prices! All in all, an awesome spot to relive some great food memories and enjoy some truly delicious fried chicken.
